A Safety and Security Declaration (SSD) is a formal document utilised by border authorities to evaluate the potential threat that goods entering their borders may present to their territory. SSD is not relevant to the collection of taxes and duties.
There are two types of SSD:
Entry Summary Declaration (ENS)
Exit Summary Declaration (EXS)
Submitting SSD is the responsibility of the carrier, which involves the following:
Total number, type, and weight of packages
Route information
Any marks and reference numbers
Border entry point
Other important information, such as the importer EORI number, description of goods, and tariff numbers
